[Chicago Magicians] Panoramic Photo of the Chicago Magic Roundtable at Fox Lake. Circa 1945. Large-format photo shows members of the famous Chicago magic social club gathered on the steps of a hotel at Fox Lake, Illinois. Among those in the image are Matt Schulien, Paul LePaul, Johnny Platt, Ed Marlo, Dorny, Herb Borin, Robert Parrish, Joe Berg, Harlan Tarbell, Lee LeRoi, and dozens more. 9 ¼ x 13 ¼”. Soiled, image blurry, with a few scattered closed tears. A similar image appears in the classic book The Magic of Matt Schulien. The Roundtable met daily for decades in Chicago at various locations, welcoming any and all magicians (local or visiting) to enjoy the hospitality and fellowship of magic community. Fox Lake Illinois, where this image was captured, was the inspiration for the popular name brand of trick cards manufactured by John Snyder, Jr. and his successor, Ronald Haines. Snyder vacationed at Fox Lake for years.
