Punch and Judy Hand Puppet Set with Stage. 9 pcs. German, ca. 1900s. Hand painted papier mâché heads, wooden legs and arms, dressed in cloth materials. Characters include Punch, Judy, Blackamoor, Devil Dog, Soldier, Judge, Baby, and Buffoon. Also included is a large hand painted wooden stage with cloth curtains and side panels; FAO Schwarz sticker on stage with the address “39 and 41 W. 23rd street” dating this piece from 1897 to 1931 when they moved locations. Puppets height 12”, stage height 26”. General staining to clothing with few paint chips to legs, side panel cloth to stage has a few tears, else a very good set.
