Signed, titled, and dated by Burck, with notation at upper edge indicating the cartoon was intended for the Special Saturday edition, almost certainly for the morning paper following Alan Shepard’s historic flight on Friday, May 5, 1961. Burck illustrates Shepard’s historic trip as the first American in space, showing the astronaut looking out of his space capsule down at Earth. 22 x 14 ¼”.
