Steiff Golden Age of the Circus Complete Set in Original Boxes. 1986-1992. Impressive and impeccably maintained extensive set of Steiff’s Golden Age of the Circus parade and animal performers. Comprising 22 boxed pieces altogether, from editions of 5,000 pieces, including five wagons/calliope; five circus band members; and 12 circus performers. Each piece retained in original box; in fine condition, from a single owner’s collection. Wagons include an elephant-drawn musical calliope; and four wagon cages with lion, giraffe, tiger, and two bears. Band members include a bear bandleader with baton, crocodile bandsman with trumpet, cat bandsman with drum, dog bandsman with trombone, and lion bandsman with tuba. Performers include teddy baby ringmaster, seal with ball, hippo “fat lady,” baby elephant balloon seller, chimp on unicycle, kangaroo juggler, teddy bear ticket seller, jumping tiger, gorilla strong-man, teddy bear food vendor, fire-eating dragon, and teddy bear bareback equestrian rider. [Together with]: two Steiff teddy bear circus clowns in colorful costumes and cone-shaped hats (0163/19; 0163/20), both 7” excluding hats. Size of largest box 27 x 11 3/8 x 9”. Rarely seen in this state of completeness and condition.
