[CIVIL WAR]. Union non-commissioned officer’s saber. [“US DFM 1863”] straight steel saber with brass handle, and brass guard (blade 713 mm; handle with pommel, 142 mm). Blade and guard tarnished. With original iron scabbard with brass drag (loose, but present) and throat (lacking a screw). Scabbard rusted, tarnished, some wear. Still, a good example. “DFM” stands for Dexter F. Mossman, who inspected swords and sabers for Emerson and Silver.
