[Music-Chicago] Papers of Howard Wells, Chicago Pianist and Instructor. 1900s-30s. Including photos, postcards, letters, clippings, programs and flyers, and related ephemera (approximately 50 pieces); two volumes by Wells on piano instruction; Catalogue of the Cosmopolitan School of Music and Dramatic Art (1907); and a pair of his rimless pince-nez spectacles.Wells was a pianist and instructor who spent most of his career in Chicago. Before World War I, he left Berlin, where he was a protégé and representative of Theodor Leschetizky. His studio was in the Fine Arts Building. He gave lectures and recitals at the University of Chicago, sometimes accompanied by his wife, also a musician.
