Approximately 115 neatly mounted black-and-white photos, many panoramic views, featuring several squad scenes in various formations downtown including the “Beauty Squad” (1907), mounted police, and drill battalions marching through Grant Park and Garfield Park (1908); several scenes depict processing suspects including “photographing a suspect” and using the “Bertillon Measuring System” (1908); others include images of a police patrol wagon; the Kensington Police Revolver Team; U.S. Army Tournament at Grant Park (1910); Water Carnival at Grant Park (1913) with photos of the police detail, politicians, Perry’s flagship in the harbor, and a woman parachuter “ready to drop” from an airplane; Aviation Meet at Grant Park (1914) with images of police mounted detail and spectators along the beach; police training school class photos; crew photos of police field officers (1920); police band photos; many images from Police Field Day with the Chicago city skyline in the background and images of Mayor Thompson playing horseshoes (1922). Handsomely rebound in cloth with side tie. Oblong folio. A fine collection of early Chicago Police Department photographs only seen in institutions.
