Truman, Harry S. Harry Truman Typed Letter Signed to Robert Connelly. January 17, 1960, addressed to Robert Connelly, son of Truman’s personal secretary, Matthew J., after the latter’s conviction in Federal Court. Truman not only sends his greetings, but in a handwritten note states: “Don’t you become discouraged. Your Dad’s all right – no matter what happens.” Connelly was committed to the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Conn., on May 4, 1960 and served for six months before being released on parole; on November 22, 1962, he received a full and complete pardon by President John F. Kennedy. With mailing envelope, good.
