Looping the Loop. Automaton Billiard Ball Stand. Flein: Rüdiger Deutsch (after Conradi), ca. 1999. The magician produces six red billiard balls and displays them in a cluster-like stand. On command, and while the performer is some distance away from the device, the balls vanish from the stand one at a time, then fall downward on the roller coaster-like track, making a final loop and falling into a waiting top hat. Clockwork mechanism operated by a single lever at the back of the upper cluster/ball stand. Height 68 ½” (inclusive of ball cluster). Hallmarked. Very good condition. One of perhaps six manufactured, this model incorporating a vintage table base, and with features different from the other examples crafted by Deutsch, as this was the model used in his Bellachini XIII act.
