Blackstone, Harry. Three Personal Letters from Harry Blackstone to Walter Gibson. The first (July 21, 1931), TLS on I.M.C. letterhead, Blackstone opening the letter, “So your magical romance is dead. So is mine…We can’t think of women and tricks at the same time. I have tried it. Although some women are happy tricks.” The second (Aug. 27, 1933), ALS on “Show of 1001 Wonders” pictorial letterhead, regarding Blackstone’s recent nuptials: “What’s the big idea of no congrats were married so that’s that. I thought you might be among those present on the Thursday following Cedar Point. Quite a few folks came over and we sure enough got hitched.” The third (March 25, 1946), ALS on Atlanta Biltmore hotel stationery, regarding the release of the first issue of Blackstone’s Magic Comic (i.e. Super Magician): “The kids that brought them back stage to be autographed are very much pleased with them”; with an attached TLS (Mar. 19, 1946) from Edward Massey regarding the printing of a book by Gibson.
