Handkerchief Box. Colon: Abbott’s Magic Novelty Co., ca. 1949. Handsome hardwood box on removable base is shown empty. A moment later, handkerchiefs are produced from within. Single flap non-locking model. 7 x 4 x 4 ½”. Scarce. The truly fine craftsmanship of this “Jap”-style box is reminiscent of the work of Thayer, but was manufactured by Abbott’s for a short period during the firm’s glory days, in the 1940s and 50s. The large exterior panels feature raised wooden panels.
