Levitation Automaton. Switzerland: Zdenka, ca. 1985. The magician waves his hand and the lady before him floats in the air. He passes a hoop over her, and she descends to the couch. Four movements: head nods, hands move separately, doll ascends. Bisque faces and hands; finely made clothes, plush-covered base and setting. As the automaton performs, “Edelweiss” plays on a concealed Swiss Reuge music box. 8 ¾ x 5 ½ x 13”. Key wound (as opposed to string-pull mechanism usually encountered on Zdenka automata).
