Frontispiece of a female pickpocket, seven full-page illustrations by Holcomb-Davis depicting a thimble-rigger, patent-safe game, and a man being mugged. Chapter VI: “Gamblers and Gambling-Houses.” Front ad. page lists this title and Part 2, the other parts (3—9) “in preparation.” (Moderate spotting initially, but overall clean and bright. Bookplate of Forbes Library (Northampton, Mass.). Rare; no copies found at auction, only a handful institutionally.
