Egg-Laying Chicken Toy. Circa late nineteenth century. Drop eggs into the back of the neck, press down on the body, and the chicken begins laying eggs. Papier-mache body and head, covered with real bird feathers, tin mechanism, feet, and legs, on original wooden platform covered with faux grass, drawer with small plastic eggs. Height 8 ¼”.
