De Barcsy, Nicu. Six Postcards of Midget Magician Nicu de Barcsy. Circa 1920. Including RPPCs and printed cards depicting the diminutive entertainer on horseback, on a ship (likely a staged image taken at Coney Island), and performing an escape from wooden stocks. Divided backs. Nicu de Barcsy was born in to Hungarian aristocracy, and became an entertainer as a young man, working with many of America’s best-known circuses as a magician and escape artist. His mother also worked in the circus – she was a bearded lady.
