[Female Magicians] Collection of Over 80 Photographs of Female Magicians. 1940s – 80s. Including candid and studio portraits and performance images of a wide range of women performing magic or assisting other performers. Among those represented in the collection are June Merlin, Frances Marshall, Janie Jarrow, Liz Tucker, Suzy Wandas, Lady Frances, Lucille Barnett, Jane Thurston, Frances Willard, and many more. Several early images (or Ionia, etc.) being image of posters or other vintage photographs. 8 x 10” and smaller. Most in very good condition, but some with condition issues. Many of the images in this collection were used in Frances Marshall’s book on women in magic, Those Beautiful Dames. Among the images in the collection is the original Desfor photo retouched for and used on the cover of the book.
