[Hardeen] Hellz a Poppin 1940 Program. Souvenir program issued for the touring vaudeville-type review headlined by Olsen and Johnson, and featuring the brother of Houdini, Theo Hardeen, among other specialty acts. Half-page photo of Hardeen on second to last leaf. 4to. Hellzapoppin caught Broadway audiences off-guard with its anything-goes style. By some reports, though based on the popular comedy blackout sketches that made Olsen and Johnson famous, the show was perhaps never performed the same way twice. Hardeen was one member of a diverse cast that included dancers, singers, and musicians. In a later incarnation of the production – road shows were staged as far away as Australia - Hardeen was replaced by Douglas Geoffrey, aka Hardeen Jr. In this program, Hardeen is also seen with the comedy duo standing inside his Metamorphosis trunk.
