Webster (Edward William Wells). Webster the Mastermind Original Artwork, Printing Plate, and Advertising Mat. Circa 1920s. Pen and ink on cardstock depicting Webster peering into a crystal ball held by a skeleton. Included are a printing block with zinc intaglio plate backed by wood and an advertising stereotype mat, both matching the original artwork. Card measures 7 ½ x 13”, block and mat measures 2 x 4”. Minor soiling and dampstaining to margins, oxidation to block. A nice set. As here, much of Webster’s artwork copies Alexander “The Man Who Know,” the most famous mind reader of his day.
