Moll, Herman. A New Map of the Whole World with the Tradewinds According to the Latest and Most Exact Observations. London: Printed for Thom. Bowles and John Bowles, ca. 1727. A decorative hand colored double hemisphere map of the world, featuring California as an island. The lower portion of the map is embellished with 12 figures representing the continents and similar allegorical figures, along with indigenous flora and a lion. A key at the top shows the signs of the Zodiac. A long note at the top discusses the tradewinds, which are shown with arrows. Framed, sight 8 ¼ x 10 ½”. Folds as issued, light soiling along plate mark. Very good.
