[Optical View] Three Vue d’Optique Engravings. Paris: Jean Francois Daumont, circa 1750s. Handsome views of “Jardin du Prince de Schaurtzenberg,” “Ville de Vienne,” and “La Grande Gallerie de Versaille.” Original hand coloring. 12 x 18”. Minor age-toning with light soiling to margins, else very good. These prints, vue d’optique, were etchings popular in the 18th century as a source of entertainment. They were developed to provide the illusion of depth when viewed through a zograscope or peep box.
