Surprise Seat/Collapsing Chair. Greenville: De Moulin Bros. [?], ca. 1910. Wooden chair with leather seat used in fraternal order and lodge initiations. When the inductee sits on the chair, it collapses and a loud gunshot is heard. When he stands up, the chair returns to its upright position. Spring-loaded mechanisms in good working condition. Height 28 ½”. Repainted.
