[Fine Binding] The Comic Almanac. London: Chatto & Windus, 1912. Set of the 19 yearly issues produced from 1835-1853 containing prose by Thackeray and Albert Smith finely bound into 2-vols. Full red calf by Rivière & Son, framed in double gilt fillet with a central gilt vignette of a devilish looking jester framed in foliage above a pan flute and clarinet wrapped in ribbon, raised bands with gilt rolls, compartments with Greek theatre mask centerpieces in gilt and surrounded in gilt scrollwork, two morocco spine labels titled in gilt, gilt rolled fore edges, dentelle turn-ins, a.e.g., marbled endpapers. Frontispieces; foldout in second series. Profusely illustrated by Cruikshank and others. 8vos. Spines lightly sunned. A handsome set.
