Visit of Their Britannic Majesties to the United States of America. June 7-12, 1939. Limp white leather tied with suede, stamped and lettered in gilt. Title page letterpressed on thick mould-made paper by J.E. Caldwell & Co. (Philadelphia), with embossed crossed American and English flags. Route map on last page. 8vo (8 3/8 x 6”). Eleven leaves, printed on rectos only. Staining and discoloration to covers; fine internally. In the original fitted paper box with satin ribbon to lift out. Scarce original detailed itinerary of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, who became the first British Monarch ever to visit the United States. Coming at the invitation of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, their visit was an important diplomatic breakthrough on the brink of World War II, and included the well-known afternoon picnic at which the King and Queen were famously served hot dogs.
