Koran, Al (Edward Doe). Al Koran’s Own Koran Medallion. Being a golden metal medallion on golden chain, bearing the signs of the zodiac at its periphery, surrounding a large central star design. The reverse of the medallion bears a label bearing the number 835 in an unknown hand. The medallion and chain housed in a silk-lined maroon jewelry box with the address of J. Brunner, Ltd. printed inside the lid. Owned and used by one of the great mid-century mentalists, and the inventor of the effect, Al Koran. Atop the lid in the hand of Billy McComb is the text, “Koran’s Early Medallion Gift to Wm. Perhaps the most famous effect in the repertoire of television star Al Koran, the medallion prediction is a trick that remains in popular use by mentalists of the modern era. This is, then, the inventor’s own version of his most famous effect, used by him early in his career before the British public, a literal and figurative talisman of real significance both in the career of Koran himself, and all those mentalists who have capitalized on his great idea in the intervening decades.
