Chanin, Jack. Jack Chanin Napkin Swami Souvenir. Handmade “Hindu” man, replete with turban, crafted from a cloth table napkin, spoon, and toothpick by Jack Chanin, the Philadelphia magician and magic shop owner, based on published directions by Bert Allerton and others. Height 4 ½”. With a letter of provenance signed by magician Bobby Bernard, who obtained the figure directly from Chanin at a Tannen’s Magic Jubilee. Bernard states that Chanin, “Took my cloth table napkin…and made the figure locking the bottom by sliding one of the Brown’s Hotel spoons, into place. … We were observed by Mrs. Brown, who with a smile said keep the spoon as a gift, you magicians give me so much pleasure when you come here for your convention each year.”
