Houdini, Harry (Ehrich Weisz). Important Houdini TLS Regarding Spiritualism. Dated June 24, 1924, just four months before his untimely death, Houdini writes to the editor of the British Journal of Psychical Research regarding his ongoing crusade against, and research into, the subject of spiritualism. He touches on his investigation of Margery (“Time has proven that my charges against “Margery” have been corroborated…”), the biases of eyewitness accounts of seances, and believers in spiritualism (“It is very strange how some people will not, even for the sake of accuracy, look at my evidence against certain mediums.”) and the “ghost hunter” Harry Price, among other related topics. Houdini also mentions his annual expenditure of some $40,000 in his investigations into the subject. One 4to sheet of Houdini’s printed letterhead, signed boldly in pencil, “Houdini.” Tiny holes at upper right, else very good.
