Issued by Moss Empires, Ltd., one of the U.K.’s largest theatrical concerns, for the week ending April 10, 1920, and indicating that Houdini was paid £400 for his work at The Empire, Cardiff. Bearing a canceled British one penny stamp, and Houdini’s bold signature across it in the lower right corner, as well as his holographic notation, “with thanks. Adjusted for inflation, Houdini’s salary was the equivalent of about $23,500.
