Lafayette (Sigmund Neuberger). The Great Lafayette Autograph Letter. [London], Feb. 2, 1910. On two sheets of Lafayette’s embossed notepaper, addressed to a Sir (theater manager J.F. Elliston), a sharply-worded criticism of Elliston, in full: “I have had no trouble with agents, save one nor with Managers save one. Whenever I do have trouble it’s either because some dirty, sharp practiced trick had been perpetrated upon me, or else, the autocratic ideas of monarchical despotism gave saturated the old world to such an extent, that even Managers, have taken the copyright from their Kings, thinking themselves rulers ‘by the grace of good.’ I am not enlightened enough to ‘see it.’” Purple hand-stamp signature.
