McComb, Billy. Significant Archive of Billy McComb Correspondence, Contracts, and Ephemera. Including a quantity of the booking brochures, flyers, and cards for McComb throughout his career, and some advertising his wife, June Merlin, and early handbills for McComb’s performances as a very young man, sometimes billed under another name; a number of contracts for McComb’s appearances on the B.B.C. and as technical adviser for the film The Hands of Orlac; handwritten notes by McComb, including his holographic telephone directory listing many famous magicians (Chris Charlton, Peter Warlock, Francis White, Al Koran, Harbin, and dozens more); two identical contracts between McComb and his wife-to-be, June, for the development of her own magic act; and a quantity of both fascinating and descriptive correspondence to McComb from various magicians, including John Braun, Ken DeCourcy, Edwin Hooper of Supreme Magic), Jimmy Grippo, Larry Weeks, Chris Van Bern (including signed postcards), Erdenac, Fabian, Ted Lesley, Frances Marshall, and others. 1940s – 90s; bulk 1960s – 70s. Generally good to very good condition. A wonderful and historically significant archive of material related to the comedy magician who was billed, for years, as “Ireland’s Largest Leprechaun.
