Germain, Karl (Charles Mattmuller). Germain’s Die Box. Hardwood box with four hinged doors said to have been the property of Karl Germain. The box allows the magician to vanish a solid wooden die from inside. Double door and sliding weight. Inlaid diamond design in front doors. 3” shell (solid die lacking). Accompanied by a card displayed with the box at the Magic Island nightclub stating, “Used by Karl Germain in 1929, the box housed a metal die which could be heard to slide from one end of the box to the other but was never found within when the doors were opened. Collection of Mark Berger [sic], House of Magic.” Well worn.
