[Scrapbook] Notebook of Magician R.E. Rapp. American, 1920s. Neatly kept notebook of “Mystic Elden,” or “RoRa,” the stage names of R.E. Rapp (no relation to Augustus Rapp), an American magician practicing in the first quarter of the twentieth century. Neatly written descriptions and working behind various tricks, most in a fine hand in dark ink, and including sleight-of-hand feats and apparatus magic, the methods behind tricks manufactured by Thayer, Grant, P&L, and others, as well as chemical formulas for bouncing soap bubbles, lists of gags and patter, card marking systems, and more. Many entries well-illustrated by Rapp with detailed diagrams of the mechanical working of tricks. A few pasted-in newspaper illustrations accompany entries. Approximately 75 loose-leaf pages in a small clothbound three-ring binder, approximately 8vo, with wear from age as expected but very good condition overall.
