Large engraved folding map depicting the central Atlantic states stretching as far west as present day Ohio and parts of Michigan (labeled “Western Territory”) with an inset map of the Carolinas and Georgia (first quarter of map cleanly separated but present). Laid in with a large format negative of the map included from Bowling Green University. Half black straight grain morocco over marbled boards, spine titled and ruled in gilt, foot of spine gilt titled “War Department Library”, all edges marbled. (hinges reinforced, backstrip dried with few losses, old library label affixed in compartment, edges rubbed, occasional browning or offsetting to text). Provenance: War Department Library rubber stamps to titles and with signature below imprint and Library of Congress bookplate affixed over War Department Library bookplate.
