[TRAVEL] A Young Man’s Journey Out West Scrapbook. 4to. From July 18 to August 26, 1929, Edwin R. Smith covered thousands of miles through the American and Canadian West, stopping off at several National Parks and mountainous areas. Included are 35-pages of mounted clippings, handbills, timetables, postcards (several RPPCs and accordion multi-view), maps, 17 small real-photo snapshots, and a large matted sepia toned photo of a mounted party at the Grand Canyon, neatly housed in a contemporary half morocco in gilt over pebbled boards. A “crash tour” through the Western states and provinces. Provenance: from the collection of Edwin R. Smith (1910–2003), a noted Maine jurist who established Maine’s District Court System and also the University of Maine School of Law.
