Carte de visite on original studio mount featuring a portrait photo of Benjamin Franklin; a Civil War soldier that lost his limbs to freezing cold temperatures while crossing the Plains from Fort Wadsworth to Fort Ridgley. Franklin sold these cards in an effort to raise money for his family. 4 x 2 ½”. Corners unevenly trimmed, with slight browning to margins, verso soiled.
