FIRST MONSTRELET EDITION, one of 300 quarto sets (selling out quickly so that a second edition was called for and printed a year later in London). Copper engraved title vignettes by Britton and Angus (few copies carry this engraving; other sets are known to have unsigned wood engraved vignettes that “lack the same charm and detail”), 51 full-page black & white engravings. Rebound in modern cloth backed boards, black morocco spine labels gilt, pages uncut and mostly unopened (occasional pale spotting at margins).
