With the rare “1873” imprint in Vol. I bound up from the remainder sheets of the second edition. 53 mixed technique plates, principally lithographed, mezzotinted, aquatinted and line engraved (21 tinted or colored), intertextual woodcuts. Early full vellum over beveled boards, spines titled in black, all edges gilt, dentelle turn-ins, marbled endpapers, STAMP-SIGNED BY WILSON OF CAMBRIDGE BINDERY (faint dust soiling to covers, minor splitting to lower joints of Vol. I and II (contents tight), small crack to lower spine panel of Vol. I, occasional pale spotting to margins); else a fine set.
