INSCRIBED by Balbo to the artist, Oscar Cesare. Image, 9 x7”; overall, 13 x 10”. Small corner tears to mount. Italo Balbo was the heir apparent to Mussolini and the only leading fascist to oppose his alliance with Nazi Germany. Early on, Balbo was appointed Secretary of State for Air, leading several transatlantic flights and even earning the Distinguished Flying Cross presented to him by President Franklin Roosevelt.
