Jumbo Simplified Snake Trick. Colon: Abbott’s Magic Novelty Co., ca. 1944. Large version of the popular comedy “snake finds card” trick in which the ersatz serpent rises from the basket repeatedly, eventually finding a card chosen by a spectator. Woven basket with wooden base, carved wooden snake heads, wind-up motor. Height 12”. Working. A fine, early, large example of this classic Abbott trick. The baskets for this effect and other Abbott items of the era were woven by a Potawatomi tribe located only a short distance from the Michigan magic factory.
