Presentation copy, inscribed and signed by the author to magician John Scarne on the ffep. Illustrated. 8vo. Occasional pencil and ink marks; good, with fair jacket. Scarne was a casino protection consultant for several casinos in Cuba and was present during Castro’s takeover. Scarne’s experiences in Cuba during the period are recorded in his autobiography, “The Odds Against Me.” He is mentioned on page 9 of Dubois’ book as “the coolest man in Havana,” hired by casinos “to detect the sharpies and the cheaters.” The paragraph is marked with check marks.
