Barr & Co. Two Gambling Catalogs. Chicago, 1900s/10s. Two vols., pebbled maroon and printed wrappers, stapled. First catalog printed in three colors and stamped in gilt and silver to front cover. Illustrations. Approx. 16mo [6 x 3 ½”]. 88pp. and 56pp. Small tape-repaired tear to lower wrapper of second catalog, otherwise very good. Also with: a two-page typed letter from the company, answering an inquiry on loaded dice sets; a wee advertising booklet [4pp.]; an order blank; and small ad for a hold-out. Rare. The first catalog is rather unusual in that virtually all pretense that the goods are sold for anything but cheating is absent, even while the merchandise is described in greater length and detail than most catalogs of the era. The rare book “The Little Secrets” is advertised.
