FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, FIRST PRINTING translated from the German by Willa and Edmund Muir and the author’s first book to be published by Schocken Books, whom the founder, Salman Schocken, would go on to build the Schocken Library in Jerusalem that would house his massive collection including Kafka’s manuscripts.
