Hard a Port Cut Plug Insert Playing Cards. New York: H.A. Thomas & Wylie, ca. 1886. 52 + J. Color chromolithographed tobacco insert playing cards on heavy cardstock. Dark green backs lettered in white. 53 different illustrations of voluptuous beauties on the face of each card. “Hard A Port” printed on the face of each card except the Ace of Spades and 8D. Larger cards (approx. 4 x 2 3/8”). Condition generally good or very good. Hochman I3/4. As an insert deck, these cards have been assembled individually and vary in condition. The 3H and 5H have tackholes in the corners; AD with a tackhole at upper edge. Some cards are darkened and have rounded or slightly chipped corners. The Ace of Spades and 8 of Diamonds, not having the tobacco maker’s name printed on the face, are Hochman’s I4, while the balance of the deck is I3, or with the name on the face.
