Signed on plate by Salvador Dali. Modern Rhapsody is one part of a seven-part series entitled The Seven Lively Arts which depicts the seven arts of ballet, dancing, opera, music, theatre, cinema, and radio/telephone. The original paintings were created in 1944 and were later destroyed in a fire. They were recreated and updated by Dali in 1957.
