Half–title, 40 pp., [2] pp. with ads verso. Unbound, sewn and uncut, as issued; folding chemise and slipcase. MIXED EDITION with the pagination of the first edition but with the second edition imprint of D. Symonds. Paine’s letter is a defense of his Rights of Man, published the previous year, which he responds to the royal proclamation of 21 May 1791 against seditious acts directed towards the Rights of Man being “practically a third part” (Howes) of his most famous work.
