Oblong 8vo (235 x 305 mm). 76 albumen prints (140 x 102 mm to 279 x 216 mm) mounted on card (recto and verso), some signed and titled in the negative. Full early blue morocco gilt, all edges gilt, gilt dentelles, silk moiré endpapers (extremities rubbed, some splitting along joints, inner hinges starting, marginal chipping). Photographers include: LEKEGIAN, Gabriel (fl. 1870–1890); FIORILLO, Luigi (1847–1898); Langaki (19th century); BEATO, Antonio (1835–1906); and ARNOUX, Hippolyte (fl. 1860–1890). Contains numerous images of archaeological sites including the Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza, tombs, hieroglyphs, statues, mummies (Ramses II), and street life.
