Letterpress broadside (15 ½ x 11”) advertising transportation, via the Connecticut River Railroad, to an exhibition, probably a panoramic painting, of Elisha Kent Kane’s Arctic voyages. Light foxing, a few tiny losses.In 1853, Kane headed the Second Grinnell expedition sailing from New York to Greenland, discovering the ice–free Kennedy Channel between Greenland and Ellesmere Island, and becoming the first explorer to penetrate this far north up to that time. His charts would later be used by the polar explorers Isaac Israel Hayes, Charles Francis Hal, Augustus Greely, and Robert E. Peary as they led expeditions toward the North Pole.
