Contemporary calf, raised bands, red leather spine label gilt (lower cover detached, upper cover with separation along joint, extremities rubbed). Provenance: early inscription dated 1756; bookplate dated 1795. First published in 1652, Culpeper’s work on English herbals is by far the most famous herbal ever published going through 100 recorded editions since its first appearance. ESTC N69195.
