Engraved title, each leaf engraved and decorated with numerous historiated initials, borders, ornate calligraphy, head– and tail–pieces. Early olive morocco with gilt central device elaborately ruled in numerous tools, gilt corner– and side–pieces, 5 raised bands, red morocco spine label gilt, compartments completely tooled in scrollwork with gilt fleuron centerpieces, all edges gilt, gilt dentelles, marbled endpapers (joints rubbed, contents generally clean); cloth folding box with morocco spine label gilt. AN ATTRACTIVE COPY of this engraved devotional work designed for Dauphine Marie–Christine of Bavaria (1660–1690), daughter–in–law of Louis XIV. Later issue with E3 being in the later state with flowers covering the breast of the figures in the headpiece vignette. Bonacini 1689.
