Full cream morocco with elaborate gilt covers and spine, all edges gilt, cream morocco doublures gilt with a central panel inlaid with blue silk moiré, blue silk moiré front free endpapers gilt, gilt–stamp signed by Wickwar (covers toned, joints rubbed). LARGE PAPER COPY and “one of the rare copies in the special 4to format with the plates and vignettes on india paper” (Blackmer 1840). [LAID IN WITH:] an ALS from the author dated 1850(?).
