Full contemporary calf, center of both covers with intricate gilt arabesque (see Pearson’s English Bookbinding Styles p. 131), raised bands with gilt fillets, pair of red leather spine labels gilt, compartments tooled in gilt (joints tender with some splitting, corners rubbed, title with some staining and laid down, marginal repairs to A2 and B, lacks Cc2 and Cc3). FIRST ENGLISH TRANSLATION of this important source for the lives of the later Roman emperors.
